Why I Deleted Instagram: A Love Letter to My Peace
So….I didn’t delete Instagram on a whim.
As someone who has built a personal brand, curated an aesthetic, and poured countless hours into creating content—I know the value of the platform. I’ve connected with amazing women, documented my glow-ups, shared my wins, and even secured opportunities because of it. But somewhere along the way… Instagram stopped feeling like a tool, and started feeling like a trap.
I used to open the app for inspiration. But lately? I opened it and felt anxiety. Pressure. Comparison. Noise.
The constant scroll made me question my pace, my progress, my priorities. Was I creating for joy or for likes? Living in the moment or performing for the feed?
And I realized: the app that once empowered me was now draining me.
So I made a bold choice I deleted it.
Not because I’m anti-social media. But because I’m PRO ME.
Deleting Instagram wasn’t about quitting. It was about reclaiming space. I wanted to hear my own thoughts again without the echo chamber. I wanted to reconnect with my real life: my daughter’s laugh, my morning workouts, my home, my goals, my peace.
Since deleting the app, I feel lighter. More present. Less reactive. More creative. I write more. I sleep better. I’m not constantly measuring my worth by metrics that were never meant to define me.
This isn’t goodbye forever. I may return on my terms. But for now, I’m choosing stillness over stimulation, real over curated, growth over algorithm.
If you’ve been feeling the tug to unplug, let this be your sign. Protecting your peace is always in style.
With love,
Jay
